Street Style: Red 40

(Red 40 Lake was also a band in the '90s-'00s in central Connecticut, fronted by a former classmate of mine – anyone else heard of them or remember the glory days of Radio 104?)

This ice cream truck is so well-dressed, it has no idea.

What is analogue chic?

This entry is part 3 of 3 in the series what is analogue chic?

Not a Jeopardy answer. An occasional, very sporadic feature in which I gush about stylish relics of the analogue era, or modern analogue design.

I’m an analogue girl in a digital world… – Erykah Badu

Still from Desk Set, starring Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, and some fantastic outfits. Via aatombomb.

A range of young artists who use "obsolete" technologies to create their work. (click if you love innovation and craftsmanship.)

An incredible hobby-turned-business-turned-archive of major historical significance. (click if you love vinyl.)

The death rattle of typewriter manufacturing, fact and fiction. (click if you love clacking keys and dinging bells.)

Girl Crush: Lady Miss Kier

This entry is part 9 of 9 in the series Girl Crush

Girl Crush is back! I know I owe you a few grrrlz…

If you were anywhere near a radio during the ‘90s, you were fortunate enough to hear the heyday of the dance group Deee-Lite.

One can’t help but chair-dance when “Groove is in the heart” graces the airwaves even now.

The most memorable aspect of the group was frontwoman Lady Miss Kier: singer, songwriter, go-go dancer, costumer, fashion designer, club kid messiah…

No Pants Summary: How to do it yourself

This entry is part 22 of 22 in the series No Pants

Part 3: You can do it too!

There are many stories about women and their skirts.

They used to wear them, and stopped when x happened.

They used to hate them, and now love them and wear them as often as possible.

They like to wear them, but are shy about looking too (feminine, formal, slutty—fill-in-the-blank).

They own a few, but never wear them, but would like to…

Are you coming to my trunk show in Bethel, CT?

You better! It's going to be fun and stylish!

Meet me in person, grab some chic vintage handbags and accessories for spring, as well as semi-precious stone jewelry by Piedra Posy, all while hanging out at one of the best local consignment stores.

Random Review: Jane Seymour’s Guide to Romantic Living

Random Review is kicking off today! It will be a monthly article reviewing something– books, blogs, movies, art– who knows, really? But it will be fashion related, some way, somehow.

This month I bring you a truly stunning piece of literature.

Jane Seymour's Guide to Romantic Living

I know Ms. Seymour best as Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, a series I watched faithfully for several seasons. And I really haven't kept up with her since then.

I acquired this 3rd edition volume a year or two ago, I can't recall where, but it apparently cost me 50 cents. Obviously, I could not pass it up.

{In fact, it is just so good, I have to pass it on to a deserving blog reader. Read all the way to the bottom for instructions on how to win this book!}
