Win a make(over) and hire me. For free.
I made this. Yes, I know what's wrong with it. My online Illustrator class was almost useless.
My friend, Cindy, of Sequel, one of my fave local consignment stores, and her retail neighbor, Lizie, of Dizzy Lizie's, are both celebrating anniversaries this year. Come party down with them onSaturday, April 9! 101 Greenwood Ave, Bethel.
Meantime, enter their March Madness Makeover Contest – free to enter – and get some really awesome prizes: hair services, clothes, and Closet Editing by yours truly.
Cindy, Lizie, and I sincerely love our customers, and all our sister-women-people out there, and we really hate it when we see our girls not looking their best because they don't believe they're worth it.
You're worth it!
We're really nice, laidback, fun chicks, and we promise we'll take good care of you.
Go fill out and entry form at Sequel or Lizie's, and we'll see you at the party, April 9!
Our lucky lady winner will get all lovely and pampered during that week, and we'll show her off at our special trunk show event on Friday, April 15! I will be there, featuring my unique, upcycled designs and select vintage accessories.
Girl Crush: Women. All of them. Everywhere.
I'm taking a break from my usual Girl Crush feature this month. We need to talk.
I am a feminist.
If you don’t like that word, or people who describe themselves with that word, you’re free to click elsewhere on the intertubes. Bye!
Everyone else: thanks for sticking around.
So basically, I love women, I love being a woman, and I love what we can do as women.
I’m pretty much disappointed by Women’s History Month.

Happy Radical Self Love Day: Empowerment with style
Today, my perfume was Ralph Lauren’s Safari which seems appropriate since I’m on an adventure, besides, I’m saving Dior’s Poison for my Chemo. My shoes were shiny grey three inch Charles David slings, my jewelry was Michal Negrin and my purse was a leopard print Juicy bag. Why the heck not? Isn’t life too short to keep those things tucked away; only to be used for special occasions when everything is right with the world? I refuse to let myself go and slouch along in sweat clothes during all of this. I may be headed down a tough road, but I’m going there in style.
When I checked into the hospital for my pre-op today, I clicked and swayed on in, trying to stay positive and focusing on anything except being in that environment. I was holding my head up high and making the most of the long hair I probably won’t be able to keep much longer. I’m going to miss that the most!
The Red Pump Project: for women and girls with HIV/AIDS
You may have noticed the Rock the Red Pump badge over there in the righthand sidebar.
This month I'm participating in the Red Pump Project to raise awareness about how HIV/AIDS impacts women and girls. They are seeking 500 bloggers to post the organization's badge and help them promote their campaign.

National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (aka NWGHAAD) is March 10.
The Red Pump Project, headquartered in Chicago, is a nationwide awareness initiative to bring attention to HIV/AIDS, promote and produce awareness events, encourage testing, and raise funds for HIV/AIDS organizations. NWGHAAD is their signature commemorative event.
The red pump is a symbol of empowerment for the strength of women infected and affected by [HIV/AIDS].
You know how I feel about red shoes– and red stockings.
Scary fact: HIV is the 5th leading cause of death in women in the United States, ages 25-44. There are lots more scary facts where that came from.
The Red Pump Project has an HIV/STD testing site locator in their webpage sidebar, as well as information and links in their Resources section.
So now you know what's up with that. What are you doing about it? Have you been tested?

Fashion Philanthropy: World AIDS Day
Because HIV/AIDS is really not chic.
We've all seen the ads for MAC cosmetics Viva Glam line, and Bono's (RED) campaign. It seems that the stigma has all but disappeared from philanthropic efforts in support of HIV/AIDS research and service programs, and nowhere more so than in the fashion industry. But it wasn't always so.
This year, for the 22nd annual World AIDS Day commemoration, you can rock your dollars with some fashionable philanthropy to support indie designers, fair trade, and HIV/AIDS causes. Here are my picks:
