Random Review: The Kennel Club Murder Case
Random Review is a monthly article reviewing something– books, blogs, movies, art– who knows, really? But it will be fashion related, some way, somehow.
A couple of weeks ago I treated myself to another dreamboat William Powell movie—I watched him last year in My Man Godfrey with Claudette Colbert (hilarious lady!), in which he was utterly charming.
As the title indicates, The Kennel Murder Case had a very different feel from the light comedy and social commentary of Godfrey. But in true old Hollywood fashion, the—um—fashion did not disappoint.
DIY of the month: Your Easter Bonnet
Image via Summa Mamas
Easter is a good excuse, but the beginning of spring is reason enough to don some super-girly headgear. Whether you're going to church, or frolicking in the meadows, try your hand at making a fascinator (known in the olden days as a cocktail hat).
Jane Seymour: the winner is….
Wow. Seriously, guys?
No one?
How could you not want to own this?
Well, I had no takers on my giveaway of the fabulous tome, Jane Seymour's Guide to Romantic Living. I can only assume you thought the competition would be fierce and you thought your chances were slim. A reasonable, if timid, assumption.
Therefore, I will be putting this up for bid on Ebay. My seller ID is analoguechic if you want to include this fabulosity in your home library.

Jane Seymour's Guide to Romantic Living
I know Ms. Seymour best as Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, a series I watched faithfully for several seasons. And I really haven't kept up with her since then.
I acquired this 3rd edition volume a year or two ago, I can't recall where, but it apparently cost me 50 cents. Obviously, I could not pass it up.
{In fact, it is just so good, I have to pass it on to a deserving blog reader. Read all the way to the bottom for instructions on how to win this book!}

New Year’s Eve Accessories to Make Yourself
Need some last-minute sparkle for your New Year’s Eve groove-getting-on?
Here’s a list of DIY tutorials, with varying degrees of difficulty, to make accessories. Just add one cute dress or simple outfit, and let your handmade sparkle do the talking!
If you’ve NEVER handled a glue gun or needle and thread before, these are probably not for you. But if you’re somewhat familiar with arts and crafts, you should be able to handle many of these, or modify them to your skill level.
Guide to Skillz Levelz
- Newbie - you’re not afraid of stabbing yourself with needle and thread or burning yourself with glue gun. Basic familiarity with common craft supplies.
- Sorcerer’s Apprentice – a bit more advanced than newbie, you’ve learned some specialized skills from classes or craft books.
- Super Grand Wizard Craft Master Flex – advanced, using uncommon materials and techniques, with not very detailed instructions.
Have fun! Send pictures! Seriously!
