Gala Season: Style for big nights and big money

January 2, 2011 in Fashion by alliemcc

If you’re a literature-geek like me, especially for novels written or set in the 1800s (Austen! Dickens! Gaskell! Wharton!), you’ve probably heard of “the season”– the fall and winter months when wealthy folks moved back to the city from their country homes and went out every night to balls, plays, operas, parties, dinners…

Many things have changed, but November through March is still a big season for charity galas.  Even a small city like Danbury, CT hosts almost one per month at this time of year!

The Dream Come True Gala has a Paris Evening theme...

We’ve already seen the Danbury Hospital Ball, in November. Here’s a list of the biggies coming up in Danbury (and the surrounding area) after the New Year:

January 29 : Mayor’s Ball

February 4 : Girl Scouts Gala

February 12 : Danbury Animal Welfare Society Gala

April 2 : Dream Come True Gala

TBA : Hord Foundation Gala

Elsa Schiaparelli

The Girl Scouts Gala has a Masquerade theme...
